Elina did not manage to advance to the quarterfinal and lost her match to the Latvian Anastasia Sevastova: 3-6 6-1 0-6.

The match had lasted for eighty-one minutes whereas Elina served two aces, made two double-faults, won three break-points and lost five service games.

“I am upset as I gave Sevastova a chance to fight back into the match”, said Elina after the match. “It is definitely a pity that I let her revert. Then she showed her best tennis and won. I am really disappointed”.

“My team and I have to think over it. It seems that I have to be stronger from the physical point of view as my body has significantly changed. I think that I need more time to get accustomed than I expected. I have to slightly change my game style. My body did not let me show my best tennis when I was playing in the manner I did last year. I have to think on what must be changed. It is hard to say right now as I am sad and disappointed after the match”.

Elina’s next tournament is Wuhan Open which begins on September 23.
