Elina Svitolina had to play two full matches yesterday in Cincinnati.

At first Elina had spent 70 minutes to defeat the American Amanda Anisimova: 6-4 6-4. Elina had served three aces, made a double-fault and won two break-points on her opponent’s serve.

A few hours later Elina met the Dutch Kiki Bertens in the quarterfinal. Elina grasped a 4-1 lead but Bertens managed to pull herself together and won five games in a row. The Dutch also won three break-points in the second set and lost only a single service game. Thus, Bertens sealed her 6-4 6-3 victory and advanced to the semi-final of Western & Southern Open.

Elina’s next tournament is the last Grand Slam event of the season – US Open. The tournament begins in New York on 27 August.
