Elina lost a tough match to the World No. 7 Caroline Garcia from France: 7-6(4) 4-6 2-6. The players spent two hours and sixteen minutes on court whereas Elina managed to serve nine aces, made a single double-fault and won only two out of fifteen break-points on her opponent’s serve. It is the third consequent victory of Garcia in her matches against Elina. The players have met four times.

“Both players showed nice game and I do think that our level was really good. Hopefully, I understood that the drawbacks, I am currently trying to improve, became less intense. It is really difficult to play against someone who does so well at the other side of the net. You have to show a steady level. Unfortunately, I failed to correspond to that level at the end of the match. This is how the transition to the clay courts work”, - said Elina after the match.

Elina’s next stop is the Premier Mandatory tournament in Madrid which is scheduled to start on May 7.
