Having spent fifty-seven minutes Elina defeated her fellow countrywoman Marta Kostyuk: 6-2 6-2. Initially, Elina lost the first service game and it appeared to be the only break Kostyuk managed to win during the entire match. Then Elina immediately won her opponent’s serve and was leading up to the end. Elina won five break-points out of eight, served two aces and scored eleven winners.
Elina reached the fourth round of the Australian Open for the first time in her career and her next opponent is the Czech Denisa Allertova, World No. 130, who managed to reach the main draw through qualification. Back in 2016 Allertova won their only match in the first round of Doha.
