Elina opens the new season with a victory at WTA Premier tournament in Brisbane. She spent a bit more than an hour to beat the Belorussian Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the final: 6-2 6-1. Elina served ten aces, made two double faults and won two break points on her opponent’s serve in each of the sets. Moreover, Sasnovich did not have a single break point during the entire match.

This is Elina’s first victory at Premier tournaments and the tenth in the career at WTA level. Last year Elina Svitolina won five titles including three victories at Premier 5 tournaments. This Monday Elina will become World No. 4 in the updated WTA ranking. Furthermore, she will also be the fourth seed at the first Grand Slam tournament scheduled to begin in Melbourne on January 15.
