The draw of the the WTA year-ending championship was made in Singapore, where the elite eight including the WTA Finals debutante Elina Svitolina will compete for the title. Elina completed the Red Group with Simon Halep, Caroline Wozniacki and Caroline Garcia.

This year Elina have met Romanian Simona Halep and won in two meetings (Rome's final, Toronto's semifinal) to level the WTA-tour head-to-head: 2-2. Against Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark Elina has played two times in 2017 and prevailed in both finals (Dubai, Toronto). She leads 3-0 in the H2H with the World No. 6. Elina's recent loss on WTA tour came to Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, who defeated her in 3 hours at the quarterfinal in Beijing. The two are tied at 1-1 in general head-to-head history.

"Of course I have lots of confidence. I mean, I won five tournaments this year, Elina says during her pre-tournament press conference.

- It was an amazing year for me. Lots of good memories. Hopefully it will continue in this tournament, as well. I'm looking forward to each challenge, you know, and it's been an amazing year with so many good things. Of course there have been some very disappointing losses, as well. For me, just the road to the top is never straight. It's always with some curves (smiling)".

Elina will start her WTA Finals campaign against Caroline Wozniacki on Monday, October 23.
