In the second round of the Premier-level event in Birmingham Elina lost to Camila Giorgi of Italy in just over two hours in a three-setter: 4-6 6-4 2-6. Elina made 5 breaks, hit 16 winners and 5 aces. The Italian finished the match with 4 aces, 34 winners and made 7 breaks.

In her post-match press conference Elina confessed that she is dealing with serious problems with her leg.

- Every time I step on my foot, I feel the pain and can not move well. And this is a problem, because I need to walk sometimes. I have a problem with the Achilles, so I will have an important conversation with the team: to play at Wimbledon or not, if the hard court swing is a priority to me. Of course, it will be a difficult decision, but I also try to think long-term. I don't want to put the end of the season in a danger, because the start of this year was amazing.

Now I am on the right path to get to the WTA Finals in Singapore and this is my main goal for this year. Therefore, it will definitely be a very difficult decision. At the moment I will take the time to think about it, to see my physio and to think with my team, what is better for me, if I look at big picture and in my career I always look this way.

The 2017 Wimbledon Championships starts on July 3.
