After losing the opening set Elina was able to recover and clinch the second round victory in Paris. 

The Ukrainian survived a tough three-setter with Tsvetana Pironkova, 3-6 6-3 6-2. Elina dropped the first set to World No. 77, but managed to push the match into a decider after a tight second set. No. 5 seed made two breaks and lost one game on her own serve to win the third set and reach the third round of the French Open. Elina finished the match with 32 winners to 28 unforced errors and converted 7 of 10 breakpoints. 

Elina Svitolina will face Magda Linette of Poland, currently ranked No. 94, for the spot in R16.
