The second Premier 5-level title for Elina Svitolina as she managed to fight back from a set down at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia final against Simona Halep, 4-6 7-5 6-1.

After a tight opener, Elina was in the lead in the second set but wasn't able to serve out the set at 5-3. Anyway, she forced a decider a few minutes later after breaking the Romanian's serve for the third time. Elina took control of the third set as her opponent wasn't able to fight in a full force after hurting her right ankle earlier in the match. In 2 hours and 9 minutes, Elina clinched the 4th WTA title of the season. She finished the match with 25 winners to 37 unforced errors and converted 7 of 11 break point chances.

“Every day I’m just trying to work on my mental part, my physical, my tennis,” Elina said during the trophy ceremony. “Everything just came together and I’m very happy that it’s happened in such a big tournament. It was very tough first two sets and I’m really happy that it’s all finished. Hopefully, we’ll recover, me and Simona, because we’re struggling a bit physically".

It's been Elina's 8th WTA title in singles and second trophy at the Premier-5 level event after Dubai. This year Elina has already won in Taibei, Dubai, and Istanbul. She will start a new week as the leader of the Porsche Race to Singapore leaderboard and will rise to No. 6 in the WTA rankings, which is her personal and also a national WTA record for Ukraine.
