Elina Svitolina early finished her campaign in Malaysia, where she won a title last year, due to a left ankle injury.
Yesterday Elina defeated Korean Jang Soo-Jong in two sets and extended her winning streak to 13 matches. Also it was the 250th win in her career. Elina started this match with a taped left ankle and called a physiotherapist on the court.
Her next scheduled event is the Premier Mandatory-level tournament in Indian Wells, which starts next week. Last season Elina failed there in the third round, losing to Roberta Vinci.
On Monday Elina Svitolina debuted in the top 10 in the WTA rankings. She also rised to the second place in the WTA Race to Singapore.
