The battle between Elina Svitolina and Christina McHale lasted for two and a half hours. Down a set and a break in the second set, Elina was two games away from a loss, but she could swing the momentum and fought back to win this match: 4-6 6-4 6-3. Elina finished the game with 4 aces and 6 breaks.

- It was very tough today, I was on and off, losing my concentration in the first set, - Elina admitted during her on-court interview. - Christina played solid from the baseline. I tried to fight for every ball, maybe that's how I won. I tried to go for my shots, but the balls were flying a lot because of the heat. In the third set I tried to put some pressure on my opponent. I am a bit tired, but I am sure, I will be ready for my quarterfinal. Our last match with Lauren Davis was tough, but there is nothing else to expect at the quarterfinals of such a big event. In the quarterfinal

Elina will face another American player - Lauren Davis, ranked No. 46 in the WTA rankings. It will be their fourth meeting on the court with Elina winning in all previous encounters.
